Tantramar Interactive is pleased to announce the launch of Tantramar Heritage Trust’s online exhibit with the Virtual Museum of Canada — A Carriage Factory built on Horse Power.
Our role in this project was in helping to determine what sorts of illustrations and/or animations could be achieved given the budget and timelines available, and then to design and execute them. These 2- and 3-dimensional illustrations had Flash-based interfaces, and all had to fall within a rigid 1 megabyte maximum download, and were produced in French and English.
The illustrations we provided included:
Making of the Tantramar
NASA satellite photos animated to show where the Campbell Carriage Factory was located near the Tantramar river, and showing the reclaimed farm land made available by Acadian dyking.
The fully functioning factory!
Using a flashlight-style mouse-driven reveal that allows users to explore the two-storey factory (via original paintings by Peter Manchester), showing the benchwork, machines, assembly and painting stages of manufacturing.
Taking A Carriage Apart
A 3D illustration of a typical carriage that explodes to show its major components.
The Full Powertrain
A 3D illustration of the horse-powered powertrain used to control the up-and-down motion of a saw or the rotational motion of a drill press or lathe.
