MJM turned to Tantramar Interactive with a number of clear objectives. Specifically, they wanted to:
- have an attractive, highly functional best-in-class web site
- be able to maintain the site’s content with ease, which meant
- automatically-generated site navigation
- placing new publications and announcements regularly
- maintaining a comprehensive archive of older news & publications
- being able to manage all content themselves, including uploading and placing graphics and files, and
- having flexible page templates that allowed for a variety of layouts
- produce printer-friendly biographies & publications
- have keyword search
- improve the site navigation’s ease-of-use
- provide an automatically-updated site map
- have high standards of usability, accessibility and findability
Tantramar Interactive responded by designing a site that was clean, crisp and professional; easy to use and fast; adhering to web standards for consistency, flexibility and accessibility.
We also designed and produced a fully-customized content management system from the ground up to meet Mello Jones & Martin’s needs. MJM’s content management system was built around open-source tools, so there’s no vendor lock-in. It was designed to emphasize ease of use and flexibility; it simplifies content management, it doesn’t limit options.
MJM’s web editor has tremendous flexibility in terms of page layout and content formatting. Uploaded images are automatically scaled (to preset or custom sizes) and placed into pages easily. Attaching file downloads is as easy as point and click. No knowledge of HTML or CSS is required. No software is needed beyond a web browser.
The site editor has the ability to rename any page, reorder the pages within any section, and move pages from section to section.
