Tantramar Interactive has sold a number of domain names and social media accounts to the new Municipality of Tantramar.

Background (why now?)
The name Tantramar was chosen in 1997 as the foundation of Tantramar Interactive’s name and has been reflected in domain names used to establish the company’s online presence. This began with tantramar.com in November, 1997, which also served as a community portal for several years.
As part of the province of New Brunswick’s Local Governance Reform, as of January, 2023, the new Municipality of Tantramar combines the governance of the Village of Dorchester and the Town of Sackville.
These domain names are a natural fit for the new Municipality of Tantramar.
What’s not changing
- tantramarinteractive.com remains Tantramar Interactive’s online home, as it has since June, 2000
- the company has not been sold and is not shutting down
- that’s it, really, aside from boring housekeeping details mostly related to email accounts.
What has changed?
Domain names
The domain names sold to the Municipality of Tantramar are
- tantramar.ca,
- tantramar.com,
- tantramar.net,
- tantramar.org, and
- tantramar.town.
These domains can serve Tantramar well for decades to come, providing an authoritative online home for the community.
Social media accounts
Several social media accounts — Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, & TikTok — have also changed hands as part of this agreement.
In practical terms, the biggest change to day-to-day operations in-house is to email. If you’re a current or recent customer, you should already have gotten an email message (sent June 29, 2023) announcing new email addresses. Check your spam/junk folder if you don’t see it in your inbox.
- tantramar.co is now the primary email domain; it forwards web traffic to this site, too.
Most of this has taken place behind the scenes and the transition has gone smoothly.
Expected timeline
While this sale has been finalized, it can take hours or days for domain name changes to fully take effect. Everything is expected to be complete in early July, 2023.
July 24 Timeline update
Email redirects are now working. Anyone who has emailed me at my previous email addresses should know that I was not receiving messages sent to those addresses between June 30th and July 24th, 2023. Use the contact form on this page to get in touch if you don’t know the new address(es).
Tantramar Interactive marked 25 years in business in November, 2022.
